Elval was awarded a top distinction for its participation in the Transport & Logistics Awards 2017, in February. Its winning entry had the title: “Optimum Customer Service with the use of Advanced Supply Chain Planning and Optimisation by Elval (Aluminum Rolling Industry), a Viohalco subsidiary”.
The category Elval participated in (Supply Chain Management / Customer Service Optimisation), awards enterprises - users of supply chain management services that achieved measurable results in best customer service performance via successful utilisation of innovations and best practices. The candidates evaluation was performed through an online grading from the members of the evaluation committee and the awards depend on the grades collected by every candidacy. This year, for the first time, for a small number of candidates with a very high grade average, a new distinct category “Exceptional” was created. Elval was one of the seven candidates that received an “Exceptional” award.
Evaluation criteria included benefits and results of the project/initiative, completeness and quality of the project execution, innovativeness and originality of the project and initiatives and, finally, completeness and quality of the submitted candidacy. The evaluation committee included representatives from the Athens University of Economics and Business, the National Technical University of Athens, the University of Patras and a number of professional organisations including the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV).
The innovations and best practices were based on a Software Framework that has been implemented in close co-operation with the Dutch company Quintiq.
The award was accepted on behalf of Elval by Periklis Tsahageas, SCM Projects Manager and Viohalco APS Info Team Co-ordinator, presented by Prof.Doukidis, Chairman of the evaluation committee and Professor of Information Systems at the Athens University of Economics and Business.
