ElvalHalcor publishes a Sustainability Report based on the European Sustainability Reporting Standards and the CSRD regulation

ElvalHalcor has published its Sustainability Report for 2024 in accordance with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). This Report forms an integral part of the Board of Directors’ report and is included in ElvalHalcor’s 2024 Annual Report.

2024 was a significant year for ElvalHalcor, with the Company continuing its upward trajectory despite geopolitical challenges and prevailing uncertainty in international markets and the global economy. Remaining committed to its strategy and successfully implementing its business plan, ElvalHalcor delivered a strong performance.
Aiming at the continuous improvement of the overall footprint of its production and products, ElvalHalcor presents its sustainability strategy, 2024 performance, and future goals.

The Report is complemented by important initiatives and distinctions achieved during 2024:
  • Double Materiality Assessment
ElvalHalcor updated its double materiality assessment at the sector level to identify key impacts, risks, and opportunities. The process aligns with ESRS requirements and the consolidated results for the Group are published in the current disclosure.

  • Scope 3 Emissions Reporting
Building on its previous Sustainability Report, ElvalHalcor calculated Scope 3 emissions across all relevant categories in accordance with the GHG Protocol.  This effort supports risk and opportunity evaluation across the value chain.

  • Human Rights Due Diligence process
Under the provisions and requirements of the EU Taxonomy Minimum Safeguards, ElvalHalcor has developed and performed a human rights due diligence process and procedure and assigned Human Rights Officers on both divisions.

  • Participation in Climate Week NYC
As a member of the Global Beverage Can Circularity Alliance (GBCCA), ElvalHalcor’s aluminium rolling division participated in a panel on aluminium can recycling during Climate Week NYC. Discussions focused on recycling infrastructure, data improvement, policy recommendations, and support for Deposit Return Schemes (DRS).

  • Enhancing Circularity in Aluminium Cans
ElvalHalcor’s Aluminium Rolling division, together with three members of the European Aluminium Packaging Group (EAPG), launched a project to standardize alloys used in can lids to increase scrap content and boost circularity.

  • Investments in Smart Material and Energy Management
ElvalHalcor invested in advanced systems that optimize raw material mixing and boost secondary metal use. In 2024, these systems were extended to the copper extrusion segment.

  • Viridis Suite for Energy Efficiency
The aluminium rolling division of ElvalHalcor implemented the Viridis Energy & Sustainability Suite in partnership with SMS Group. This marks a major step toward smart, energy-efficient, and sustainable industrial operations.

  • Sustainability Ratings and Certifications:
In 2024, ElvalHalcor earned a Gold rating and Symetal a Platinum rating from EcoVadis, reflecting strong ESG performance. Additionally, Elval renewed its ASI Chain of Custody certification, enabling sourcing and distribution of sustainable aluminium through robust supply chains.
Panagiotis Tserolas, Sustainability Senior Manager at Elval - Aluminium Rolling Division, stated: ❝Our reporting responsibility goes beyond regulatory requirements, but we are proud to publish our first report under the ESRS. ElvalHalcor is committed to a transparent and robust communication with all stakeholders regarding our performance, our targets and our overall strategy on sustainability, climate, circularity and social contribution.❞

With a clear commitment to sustainable development, ElvalHalcor is shaping its own course through responsible production and innovative, sustainable products. Its constant aim is to actively contribute to achieving the goals set at both a European and international level for a more sustainable future.
